Dec 02, 2025

On November 3, 2025, the Institute for the Promotion of Business-Regional Collaboration held the “Hokkaido University 150 Initiative” in Singapore as part of its efforts to strengthen international partnerships in the lead-up to the university’s 150th anniversary.

Co-organized with the Hokkaido Government Representative Office, the event featured a keynote address by President Kiyohiro Houkin on the theme of “Second Ambitious Challenge.” In his speech, Houkin discussed opportunities for industry-academia-government collaboration in Asia and explored potential partnerships in the agri food tech sector.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from the Embassy of Japan, officials from the Singapore government, and leaders from local universities, companies, and research institutions. Following the keynote, an active networking session took place, where attendees exchanged ideas while enjoying Hokkaido University-certified brand products such as drink and confectionery. This gathering served as a valuable opportunity to expand the circle of international co-creation toward the university’s 150th anniversary.
